Why do hairdressers get so scissor happy and have you ever had a scissor happy stylist!?

last tuesday i got a haircut at rejuve salon. my hair was about 2 inches above my belly button and i asked for about 2 inches to be cut off and my layers to be trimmed a bit. she agreed and washed my hair then brought me back to the chair. she cut off the 2 inches like i said and then dried it. however, after she finished drying it she said that she needed to cut some more off of it because she said it was still too long. i didnt know what to say or do and she already had cut more off so i couldnt say no now. when some fell onto the cape on my lap i saw te hair she was cutting off now and it was about 5 inches. my stomach dropped and i got nervous. my hair is now about 2 inches below my shoulders with some layers a bit above my shoulders. has anyone else had experienced a scissor happy stylist ans why do they do this!?!? do they find it funny or a competition between other sytlists to see who can cut the most hair!?
