Why cant i find a job in massachusetts?

i live on cape cod and i have filled out 102 job applications (not even exagurating a little when i say that) over the course of a week to different stores all over cape cod. not even exaggerating a little when i say that. does the state of Massachusetts really suck that much? or is it that there are none available to anyone. im getting annoyed. so i figured id ask
