What and how to prepare before readying for love?

ok im 20 this yr, currently at work, gg to army next yr for 2 yrs. im broke, no social life or friends, i dun go out and hang am like a country bumpkin and i dont look GREAT. im not shy with girls but i just feel im not emotionally ready for love yet. what if anything and how shld i prepare to ready myself for a relationship and not relationshit??
